In 2017, I began my natural hair journey using Cantu—a well known brand marketed for natural hair. My hair was heat damaged, and instead of helping, it only got worse. I was left to wonder how a product made for me could leave my hair worse than when I started.

That experience became a catalyst for my ingredient consciousness and changed the way I viewed self-care. The more I read product labels, the more alarmed I became at how blindly we use products without real awareness—and how what we use matters more than we think.

I began researching and making my own concoctions in my grandmother’s kitchen. I formulated a deep conditioner that I used consistently once a week, and in about a year, my hair went from dry, brittle, and heat damaged to healthy, bouncy, and hydrated. The more I fell in love with the process of learning, the more eager I was to share the results that followed. I recognized that what I was learning wasn’t just for me and it became important for me to share so others could make more informed and healthier choices for themselves too. 

That journey revealed something bigger: the need for greater ingredient education and transparency in self-care. I became a testimony and advocate for the healing power of natural ingredients, consistency, and patience.

This is how Earthly Essentials was born.

What started as a personal solution evolved into something with deeper purpose.
